Marilyn Franklin aka Platinum is a native Washingtonian and the youngest of five siblings. She is also an Actress, Writer, and Entrepreneur, as well as a Mentor. Platinum has a grown daughter and one granddaughter, who is soon to be bound for college.  Since 1998, Platinum has professionally entertained audiences with her gifts on the east and west coasts, and Puerto Rico. She has shared the platform with a few of the Gospel finest talents such as: the Late Andrae’ Crouch, LaVell Crawford, Damon Williams, Maurette Brown Clark, Willie Jolley, Vickie Yohe’, Stephen Hurd, Lisa McClendon, Sean Sarvis, Chinnitta “Chocolate” Morris, Laughing Lenny, Joe Recca and many more. Platinum has been interviewed by radio-personalities on WHUR and Heaven 1580. She has been featured in The Washington Post, Prince George’s Gazette, and other periodicals. In October 2011, Platinum was blessed to audition for America’s Got Talent, which she is patiently awaiting a callback, as well as a godly husband.
In 2004, Platinum self-published two books; wrote, produced, directed, and acted in her first live DVD Triple Platinum Live A One Women Stand-Up Comedy Show. Her alteregoes include: Momma D (wonna be gospel singer and gossiper) and Hattie Mae Johnson (the lazy secretary).  In 2007, she entered the Funniest Fed Competition, and wasn't nominated for first or second place, but “Other,” which landed her a radio bit and an article in The Washington Post. Platinum also has been writing a bi-weekly e-Newsletter, titled Word Up! since 2009.  In 2015, Platinum trademarked "The WordScope," which is Scripture verses  vs. horoscopes blurb. More importantly, Platinum's favor Scripture is Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you."

Since 2001, Platinum hosted her first Annual Mother’s Day Eve Dinner and Comedy Show.  However, starting in May 2018, this will be a semi-annual event. Platinum is very industrious and always like to enhance herself and other, so between April 2013-2014, she hosted an Open Mic and Talk Show  every first and third Monday night. Currently, Platinum is scheduling her 3rd Semi-Annual End-of-Summer (All White Attire) Comedy Show and Line Dance Party (click "Events" tab).  Last but not least, keep on the lookout for her next live DVD, scheduled for December 2017, which she believes this project is long overdue.
